Effective way of Doing Directory Submissions

While doing directory submissions prepare titles, descriptions differently with the keywords which you have chosen from keyword research. Titles should be unique and it should be meaningful and understandable in user point of view. Then search different web directories from different blogs,forums through web and make a list of them. Now create a mail id like name@domain.com. Instead of using free mail id use name@domain.com. Because it helps in getting links.

Now start doing submissions in all the directories. Prepare a report in excel sheet that when you have submitted,whether it is approved by the directory owner or not, if it is approved take that approved links also. Once you finish with all submissions daily check the mails from which directories you are getting. And also make a list of that directories which are rejected and not approved.

Read the terms and conditions for all the rejected directories and then change the title, descriptions as per their requirement and submit again. And also for the directories which are not approved from the date of submission wait for 6 months and then submit again. If you got approval from good page rank directories then you will get increase in your page rank in the next Google page rank update.

If you think that your page rank is increased start submitting again your site in the un approved directories. Few directories will approve only the sites which have good page rank. Now you just check search engine rankings for the list of keywords which are used in the submissions. obviously you will get your site in the search results for those keywords. This is effective way of doing directory submissions in the correct manner.

Hidden Text

Hidden text is a generally absolute form of Black Hat SEO in which pages are filled with a large amount of text that is the same color as the background, rendering keywords invisible to the human eye but detectable to a search engine Crawler. Multiple Title Tags or HTML comments are alternative hidden text techniques. Hidden text is easily detectable by search engines and will result in Blacklisting or reduced Rank.

Hit
Hit is a somewhat misleading measure of traffic to a web site. One hit is recorded for each file request in a web server’s access log. If a user visits a page with four images, one hit will be recorded for each graphic image file plus another for the page’s HTML file. A better measure of traffic volume is the number of pages/HTML files accessed.

Gateway Page
Also known as a doorway page or jump page, a gateway page is a URL with minimal content designed to rank highly for a specific keyword and redirect visitors to a homepage or designated Landing Page. Some search engines frown on gateway pages as a softer form of Cloaking or Spam. Onpage Optimization is the most important and lengthy subject that every site owner has to collect and can apply to his websites. Actually On-page Optimization is a set of algorithms and it is also one of the important factors for a website to get high ranking.

The overall optimizing factors tie up with URL, Title and Meta Tags.

1) URL OPTIMIZATION:

Web page Name correctly : If you want to get a clear picture of the subject inside the URL, you need to name it correctly. By that user can guess the pages content, it is easy for him to remember the web pages URL and this further helps in the free promotion of that page.

Keyword inside the URL : Place targeted keywords in the URL. When you want to start a website you should definitely know the target business and this target forms as a word/phrase which has to be placed in your URL.

Make it Short : As everyone knows that the longer the URL, takes much time to appear in the SERP. Because of this reason and also to get the benefit of spell better usability, URL needs to be short. If you do not find short name for a page, use more words by separating them with Hyphens because that makes sense.

URL’s are always case insensitive. For example if you type WWW.ASTROLOGYQUESTIONS.COM, it displays the page that has the URL as www.astrologyquestions.com So you need not doubt the case sensitivity.

2) TITLE OPTIMIZATION :

While search engines apply ranking algorithms Title tag plays a significant role. And it will comes in the head section of a HTML page.

Name of the Title: The name can be your site / your name / business . Think that people can find you with your brand/product name include that in your Title.

Length of the Title : Choose length of the title as maximum of 65 characters. Don’t forget that this will includes spaces, comas or any thing you separate with.

Keyword Inclusion: Generally keywords have to be included into your Title. Long tail Keywords can also be included if you think that makes sense to your business. Keyword inclusion will fetch you in ranking for your keywords too.

3) META TAGS:

Meta Tags just helps in recognizing the location of the service. You cannot based on optimizing Meta Tags to get ranking. But still you will have to optimize them as per the algorithms followed by the search engines.Google recognizes this and often displays it in the SERP’s. Because Google displays the meta description in its results. The maximum length of characters in description tag is 250.


Actually Google displays 160 characters in its results while Yahoo upto 170 characters and MSN 200 plus characters. Bold the keywords within the description tag. The main reason behind this is the keywords you use in search field will be highlighted in the Search engine results page. This means that these are the extracts from your meta description tag which are optimized with the keywords inside the tag.

DO’s:

* You have to place ‘Meta Description’ tag in your website.

* Each page should have unique meta description. This will help search engine and users identify the content of the particular page.

DONT’s:

* Avoid by filling the description tag with only Keywords

* Not to have same description for all pages

* Not to use the entire content of the document into the description meta tag.


Important On-page factors:

1. It is better to place a Sitemap(lower-case) to have better navigation usability.

2. Content of a page has to be optimized well. Think about the words what users search for to find a piece of your content.

3. Heading tags have to be used appropriately. Heading should help user understand the structure of the page.

4. Give alt text when using images as links.But don’t use only image links for your site’s navigation.

5. A robots.txt file has to be placed only in the root directory of your site. Read this for proper use of robot.txt file.
